Neverwinter Nights 2: The Frozen Far: A PW In Development

| 30 Apr 2006 19:11

We have received notice of another persistent world in the planning stages. This time, it is titled "The Frozen Far".

Mirabar is an industrious city-state and wellspring of fine-worked stone and metal, which has brought it considerable prosperity and reknown through out the Sword Coast. Peace and calm have been the rule in Mirabar despite simmering tensions with its sometimes-rival Luskan. The stillness in Mirbar is now threatened, however. The food garden at the center of the city has been blighted by an unknown cause. The animals that roam the city, both livestock and pet, have become mangy from a mysterious affliction. Mirabar's residents grow weary, as food supplies have run thin. Rumors suggest that now, even some people have fallen ill and the city's wells are suspect. Those with means are now said to avoid food and water that originate from Mirabar.

This gem of the North now faces mounting challenges. While the crops fail, the livestock falls ill, and residents grow fearful of an inexplicable contagion, the city's merchants and noble elites suspect an imminent attack from Luskan or its proxy. The Axe of Mirabar is on high alert and provisions are being imported. Merchant henchmen and the City Watch are likewise mobilized to protect investments and repel an outside attack. Meanwhile, food has become a dear commodity and the mood of Mirabar's citizens is disquieted. Recognizing the need for a solution, several of the city's wealthy merchants (some of whom are members of The Council of Sparkling Stones) have commissioned seasoned and aspiring adventurers alike to investigate the cause of the spreading dis-ease in Mirabar and ultimately find its cure.
