On the official forums, Adam Miller noticed the following in the screens:
It's pretty amazing. Some quick comments:
* Walls are made out of placeable parts. I suspect larger buildings are going to be done the same way.
* Man there's a lot of familiar types.
* The water seems more "ripply".
* I noticed the "Framerate" tab at the top, which should come in handy when putting down placeables and creatures. That might explain the big 12 in the corner.
* We get our first peek at the environment tools. It looks like you can "paint down" water, though I'm curious as to how you adjust the relative height.
* The fort sort of looks like a single big placeable, but I still can't decide.
* I still want to say that there's a way to orient your textures (e.g. cobblestones), but I don't see an obvious way to do so. Maybe not.
* The "Snap" menu item suggests you can snap placeables somehow. To each other? Along some invisible grid?
* It's interesting how you can determine how items cast and receive shadows. That lets you turn off GPU-intensive options at the expense of larger areas. I suspect you can turn it off globally if your video card is older.
I can't wait to see the full interview. The toolset is probably the one aspect of the game I'm most excited about.
