In his last installment of the pre-E3 visit to Obsidian Studios, Maximus from NW Vault shares six more toolset videos, toolset descriptions and his overall conclusions/impressions from his visit. Before moving into a teaser, I want to thank Maximus for his dedication to the NWN/NWN 2 community. All of us together make the NWN/NWN 2 community the best gaming group anywhere.

[blockquote]Overall I really enjoyed my trip and catching up with the gang at Obsidian. They are working very hard to deliver a quality product and have really scored with the toolset. I can't say enough good things about it because frankly it's shaping up to be a really great tool that module authors are no doubt drooling to get their hands on it. Especially after spending a few minutes with the script editor, I found myself asking how the community managed to produce so many quality modules with all the things they had to do before. I have a very good feeling that the community will be as fruitful in creating quality content as they were in the first game. The paint tools are easy to use and the new script editor is so much less work with a lot more power.
Though there is a potential problem that having so much control, might get people spending a lot more time creating instead of releasing their work. For example, in the original game, there are only so many ways you can place a tile which for the most part isn't a factor anymore. You could literally spend countless hours just wanting to paint exterior areas though Scott did mention that the area with the fort took a week of work, however he is a professional working full time.
The graphics of the game looks great though I found that they looked even better in the toolset area preview. There was more detail and in some cases I liked the lighting better. I don't know if my eyes were playing tricks or there might have been differences in the builds of the game shown. Either way, it wasn't dramatic and I'm sure the released game will look great.
As for the official campaign, it's really hard to put a finger on how good it will be without playing it of course, but I would guess that it'll be better than the original game, if only because Obsidian knows that they will have to deliver a solid campaign. I would assume they looked at weak spots in the original game and with all the many decades of experience the team has, have produced a great story. While the brand of NWN will definitely help sell a lot of copies, no matter how good the campaign is, if they have produced a rich and memorable RPG experience, it will not only propel the NWN community but ensure that Obsidian will be able to keep supporting us for a long time.
Only time will tell. [/blockquote]
