Turbine have a new opening posted on their corporate website - an opening for a Junior AC Game System Engineer. It seems srand's recent promotion isn't going to leave a hole in the team, which has worried some.
Position: Design, implement and especially maintain game systems for Turbine's MMP Asheron's Call. A few example systems include: AI, combat, skills, inventory, treasure, and social systems.
Requirements: At least 1 year of professional C++ experience with strong object-oriented programming and software engineering skills. Candidates should be equally comfortable developing new systems and maintaining and extending existing systems. Candidates must be capable of working closely and calmly with peers and managers in high-pressure situations. Candidates are expected to have very good organization and time management skills, as well as excellent communication skills
Preferred candidates will be familiar with the Asheron's Call gameplay and community, and should be able to conceptualize and articulate the way the game systems will be used (or potentially abused) by players. The candidate should be able to focus on how the system defines and improves the player experience.
Pluses: Extensive knowledge of other MMP games; a good background in algorithms and data structures; experience developing networked applications.
