Final Fantasy: New Final Fantasy XIII News

Lately, there's been a lot of buzz about FFXIII and the three titles based around its concepts. There are new screenshots of the game and the new characters here.

Here's a recent interview with Motomu Toriyama...

Motomu Toriyama comments on Final Fantasy 13

Recently on Dengeki Online, Motomu Toriyama (director of Final Fantasy 13) has commented on what the team's goal is with the game's battles.

The trailer's battle scene was obviously a very cinematic fight, and as we have recently discovered that was how the game will be played - an ATB system with a new twist on how battles are conducted. Toriyama told Dengeki Online: "FF13 attempts to see how far it's possible to make FF7 Advent Children's battles into a game. FF7 Advent Children is a video production, and it showed us battles that have not been achievable in FF so far. With FF13, we're focusing on how far we can realize the video."

As interesting as this sounds, it seems we won't be able to play Final Fantasy 13 any time soon - Toriyama further revealed that the team is working on the first playable demo of the game, but this demo won't be available until next year's E3.
