Star Wars Galaxies: 500,000 strong!

Shug_Ninx stopped by the forum's and let us know that this week the community breeched the 500,000 mark!

just wanted to hop onto the boards for a moment to share a huge announcement: This week, our community surpassed 500,000 registered members... It's pretty staggering, when I think back to over two ago when the site first launched...
At about 5 PM on November 30th, 2000, I was sitting at my desk, more than a little nervous. I had Rich "BoShek" Vogel, Kevin "Q-3PO" O'Hara, and Raph "Holocron" Koster all on speaker phone as we counted down to the launch of our official Star Wars Galaxies web site. We had spent the previous weeks working on our first ten question FAQ ("Can I be a Wookiee?"), refining the layout, and writing up our first "Welcome to the Boards!" e-mails. I think we picked our handles earlier that day, in about five minutes... (Had I known that my nickname in the beta chat rooms would become "Shuggy Bear," I would have probably picked something else...).
