There are some issues with the Speedstream DSL modems. These modems have two options for routing internet traffic NAPT (Network Address Port Translation) and NAT (Network Address Translation).
Asheron's Call does not work with NAPT routing. In order to play AC using this modem you will need to have your ISP set it to NAT. This should allow you to play. The reason for this is AC uses "Loose UDP Routing". What this means is that information that comes back from the servers is on a different port than information that is sent to them. NAPT uses the port packets are sent and received on to determine where the packet should go. Since information being sent to your computer is on a different port NAPT does not know to send the packets to your computer and drops them. Some ISPs are able to make this change and still allow you to connect to the internet while others do not support the change. If your ISP is unable to support the NAT function of the modem you will not be able to play AC through this modem.
But there's hope!

Just wanted to point out that that should read 'some Speedstream DSL modems.' My 5260 doesn't have NAT or NAPT. Gave me a heart attack for a minute!
My router is doing the job of all the port forwarding, and is still working, thankfully (I just checked by logging in and checing rent on my and my neighbors cottages).
whew!
Sorry for the scare Roberto! And thanks for the info!
