Star Wars Galaxies: Thunderheart addresses urban decay

Thunderheart pulled a quick drive-by to address the eternal problem of urban decay:

HeirForceOne From what I hear, auto-pack is not an option from the devs' point of view. It alleviates house space, true. But it leaves all the data stored in the database. The devs are (were, as it is not currently being dealt with, from what I've read) looking for a more permanent solution.

And I think it is one of the biggest problems in this game that needs devs' attention. The city situation leaves much of the original game design by the wayside.

Thunderheart It's just a pretty steep technical issue. The team definitely knows this is a very important issue to the community and is being looked at.

"Autopack," of course, would take adavantage of the existing "pack up this house" option in game and return the building in question to the inventories of their owners. It wouldn't save any server space, but it would allow for some new development. Why not just poof the houses? Well, imagine it was your house, you're in the Army and get deployed, preventing you from playing for a while. When you get back, you reactivate your account and all your stuff is gone. Would you keep playing? Doubtful, at least for me.
