Late Landslide update

This is going to be a relatively short update. No weird game-related news events have come my way this week, so you're doomed to here me discuss what I, personally, have been doing with my spare time.
Suckers.

First off, and it certainly deserves to be first, I have to tell you all how wonderful Age of Mythology is. It's wonderful. No, really. I haven't tried the multiplayer game yet, as I've been waaay too busy with the single player campaign, which is absolutely spectacular. The story is alright, and the characters are fine, but it's the level design that bakes my cookies. Some of the objectives for the levels, and how they're set up is fresh and creative. I'd say maybe only 15-20% of the levels are "build-a-base-wipe-out-the-enemy" levels. And there are also very few "protect-this-woefully-pathetic-person-from-hoardes-of-evil-bastards". I personally hate those. I really loathe escort missions in any game. But AoM steers away from those staples, and offers fresh and innovative missions. And the missions aren't really missions, rather they're based on dealing with the current situation in the storyline. And since the storyline is interesting, it makes for interesting gameplay.
Seriously, in what other game do you get transformed into a pig by a pissed off Greek Deity, then are forced to waddle to the Temple of Zeus, with a herd of fellow pigs, to be changed back? Also, the battles are fun to watch. Units get flung around by mythical cyclopian thugs, and Ajax is damn cool with his bear skin and 6 foot shield. And of course, nothing beats tossing a bunch of meteors at an enemy army, and watching their troops die in boiling, burning heaps of screaming, agonzied flesh.
Uh.. Ignore that.
Anyway, point is, the game is fun. Buy it, play it, enjoy it.

In other news, I think UO sucks again, so I have a small tower and some gold for sale. Unfortunately Ebay need Credit Card info AND chequing account info in order to allow me to see stuff. Since I don't HAVE a chequing account, I'm left to peddle my digital belongings like a portrait artist working outside the local McDonalds. Remind me of this post whenever I tell you people I'm thinking of playing UO again. Also remind me of this post if I ever tell you I have anything interesting to say. My next fault will be getting the DAoC expansion (the one with the Morrowind engine). I found out today they probably STILL won't have housing. Hey, Mythic, you're about a year late on that feature. Let's get to it, shall we? Stop counting all those dollar bills and get to work. I'll probably try the retail version of AC2 when it comes out, even though the beta was completely lacklustre. Very pretty, in a goofy, cartoony way, but completely boring. Oh well :( Let's hope Raph knows what he's doing with Star Wars Galaxies.

Finally, after hearing Malyris splooge over Planescape:Torment, I decided to run out to Futureshop and buy it. I've only played a few hours of it, and I have to say, it's very.. unique. Not really like any other CRPG I've ever played. It's pretty ugly, but it's almost 4 years old. Ugly I can deal with, because this game seems like it's got what it takes to be very good. I'll keep you up to date.

Finally, I'm heading to EB tomorrow to by Worms, and hopefully find a copy of "The Longest Journey". For those of you who don't know, that was Funcom's pre-AO game. And it was apparently absolutely excellent. So I'll have to find a copy somewhere. I was going to buy it from Funcom's website, but it was prohibitively expensive: 20$ for the game (great!) and almost 40$ extra for shipping. Yeah. Right. My ass.

Anyhow. That's it for now. Expect to hear from me again in a few days!
