April Fools Day is indeed a great day. It's the one day a year when you can be a jerk and play pranks of people and get away with it by screaming "April Fools Day!" at your victim(s) afterwards. People laugh, enjoy a good prank, and go about their lives.
Well, it was a great day, but then someone had to go and invent the internet. As much as I'd like to blame old Al Gore for this one, he isn't that clever.
See, the great thing about AFD is that while you can pull pranks, they don't last all day. Once the prank is over it's, well, over. The problem is that assclowns who run websites seem to think it's funny to run pranks all damn day. Sure, it's funny in the beginning, but after about five minutes most of us say "okay, enough is enough, let's get back to the real world." Problem is, no website does that. They go on all damn day. But you know what, I can kinda forgive personal websites that do things like that. After all it is your site, go nuts.
What really pisses me off is when news sites do that. They do it all damn day and just ignore all real news. So those of us who want to keep track of the gaming world can't, because some mook decides to dedicate an entire day to reporting fake news. Now if you slip in a fake item in here and there, well that's much cooler because it puts me on my guard and I get a good laugh every now and then while I'm still allowed to read the news. But noooooo, no website can do something in moderation, oh no they have to go all out until it just sucks and is boring. Nevermind that they're turning AFD into a day where I simply want to ignore all news sites and just remain offline.
I'm all for being a jerk and an asshole, but only if you do it with talent and some class. Problem is every moron and their brother can try to be clever on the internet. Leave the funny to the funny people folks, before someone gets hurt.
