Paul Younger of LoadedInc cornered Mythica's Senior Game Designer Hal Milton at E3 and has today published his interview and impressions of the game. There's a LOT of previously unreleased information here! Check out this snip:
Mythica is steeped in Norse Mythology so adventurers in the game world can expect a rich background setting, and bizarrely enough, the first thing that happens in the game is you die. You are then taken up to Asgard and imbued with powers to become an immortal where you swear allegiance to a patron god such as Frey, Skadi or Thor and there will be twelve gods in total in the final game which sets the scene for character classes and gives players archetypes and role models to live up to. At E3 they only revealed four classes, each aligned to a patron god. On show was the Pyromancer, Huntress, StormWright and Beserker, and we were shown how working together is crucial in Mythica. As party players will be able to pool their powers together, these powers being split into Physical, Magical, Order and Chaos, powers are shared which gives access to special party abilities which you don't have access to as a single player character. In the demo there was a Huntress and a Pyromancer working together taking out fireball-launching inferno towers, the Pyromancer stood back and launched a Siege Bolt at range while the Huntress targeted the tower. An interesting feature of structures such as these towers is their similarity to structures in an RTS game. They can attack players and can be attacked and destroyed themselves. They are more than just background art in the game world.
