If you've not yet taken a look and Funcom's upcoming expansion on Anarchy Online, Shadowlands, you might be a bit surprised. Verdant is never a word I'd have attributed with any part of Rubi-Ka, but green and lush it is. They've sent us a few never-seen-before images. You can see these and others at their homesite, AnarchyOnline.com.

Also, to be found this month is a fabulous piece of player fiction entitled Bio-Warriors and Implant Freaks. Anyone who's had their children play online with them will find it familiar:

"Oh-h-h ... My Char has a navel!" exclaimed my 12-year-old daughter, Alice, delightedly after successfully guiding her chosen character through the futuristic "DNA Construction Area" in the online game Anarchy Online. Before she could enter the game, she had had to make a careful assessment of the four different human races involved - and to decide which sex and occupation to adopt on emigrating to the planet Rubi-Ka. Within the fanciful frame of the game radical changes in the appearance and conduct of an adult. My daughter was caught up in a virtual world populated by genetically modified beings but controlled by real fellow-players in a worldwide network.

imageThe rest is just as fun. And finally, for those who don't know or haven't decided whether to update, if you buy your copy of Shadowlands at EB games, you'll get a free apartment overlooking the city of Jobe. So, make sure you order now, before they're all gone.

Of course there's the specialization and perks to get it for....but why would you want that? New Monsters....new playing areas, new weapons...

Dontcha just HATE expansions? *grins*
