Boy those kids at MS are busy! Two more Mythica items today. First is a "Behind the Scenes" peek called "Animating Asgard: Inside the Mythica Graphics Engine". Check out this snip:
The Mythica Engine must both store and access graphical data quickly and efficiently, the equivalent of half a billion triangles of terrain and a full terabyte of memory for textures-all for just one plane alone! To handle this amount of data, the Client Team developed storage and compression techniques for the engine to deliver the world in manageable amounts.
Wow, that's a new approach... They got my interest there, I wonder if it'll require broadband?
Secondly the dev team has participated in their first "House of Commons" chat at Stratics Central. Here's a taste:
Gallahan - *evoke* Will there be a PVP server in Mythica, like Darktide on AC1-2?
Mattrix - We are planning both PVP areas in the main servers, and will probably have a specific PVP server similar to other games out there. Along with RP and other type of servers.Gallahan - *RealAmerican* When does beta for this game start ?
Raskal - We're not ready to announce exactly when the Beta for Mythica will start. We will be start taking sign-ups for the Beta from the Mythica.com web-site in the next month or so.
I gotta show you this one other quote, then I'll give ya the links. This is just too funny:
Gallahan - *RealAmerican* Will this game suck like ac2 because microsoft is publishing it? Will it be another eq remix?
Raskal - Ouch... well one of the major differences between AC2 and Mythica, is that Mythica is not just published by Microsoft, but completely developed internally.
So now if Mythica... "sucks", I guess we'll know why. Hehe!
ANYWAY, here's the links to the good stuff:
