Thailand Imposes Online Gaming Curfew

It seems gaming, online gaming especially, is undergoing some growing pains these days. Governments, communities, and parents all over the world are far from done struggling with how much is too much. A curfew has just been placed on Thailand Internet Cafes to prevent children from over-gaming:

Of particular concern is the Korean role-playing game Ragnarok, which has over 600,000 registered players in Thailand, many of them children.

"As a matter of fact Ragnarok is not a violent game," said Mr Suebwonglee, "but its problem is that child players are becoming addicted, so we have to prevent children playing for long periods of time."

Is this a reasonable move? The problem of course is that there are legitimate issues, some people really do become addicted to online gaming, and some people do become isolated and antisocial. I don't think most of us would consider ourselves truly addicted, though we joke about it frequently. And what about the adult gamers this curfew also affects? Controversial to say the least.

Personally, I just need something to pass the time until Return of the King hits theaters. I can quit any time.
