"With the recent purchase of iWin.com and Playsite, Next Game has taken its business to the next level and is poised to be the cash competition and premium game subscription leader," said CJ Wolf, CEO of Next Game. "The combination of our best-of-breed skill-based platform with Playsite's quality content and dedicated game community broadens our product offering and significantly extends our share of the online gaming market."
The Playsite acquisition expands Next Game's portfolio from 16 to 28 games. The integration of Playsite enhances Next Game's collection of game styles from single player and head-to-head games to four player and bracketed tournaments. Playsite brings an established game community of 250,000 active players and more than three million registered members.
The Playsite assets also include On Demand Gaming technology, which will enable Next Game to offer a subscription-based gaming platform across a network of sites. According to Jupiter research, more than 47 million consumers currently play PC games each month and online gaming revenue is forecasted to grow from $210 million in 2001 to $2.5 billion by 2006.
