Mozilla has long been a extremely good web browser and came with it's own email client. Well two projects spun off Mozilla. Thunderbird and Firebird. The latter is a web browser and that's all there is and well it's the same for Thunderbird except it handles email only.
We'll what so great about it?
Lets start off with the fact that I hate spam. I get spam on a daily basis and it really does not help when you work on a webpage and your email address is available to just about any bot crawling websites. Lets just say I get over 20 spam's a day and leave it at that.
We'll it got so bad that I actually paid for a program called Postal Inspector which is a really good product but it lacked the ability to dynamically adjust to spam quickly enough. Mainly it was a victim of it's backend system which required the Postal Inspector company to build up it's detected spam database.
Thunderbird has what you call Bayesian filters. Yes I probably spelled it wrong but what matters is the fact that the spam database is on your PC. And as you add more spam to the filter (You also have to tell it what's not spam so it can tell the difference) it becomes quite accurate. In as little as 20 marked non spam messages and about 50 marked spam messages the program is remarkably accurate. Soon I'll be comfortable with it just nuking my spam on the fly so I'm only bothered by those I wish to bother me :)
Also for those who hate the look of Outlook, Thunderbird is really easy on the eyes with large informative icons and great fonts. Setup is a snap with wizzards to help you get your email going quickly and easily. And if you're worried about your Outlook or Outlook Express and other mail from other clients Thunderbird can import it, your address books and in some clients your account settings!
Well you're probably asking okay so what else is great.
FREE! Yes this program is and will always be free. It runs on Linux, Mac, and Windows so everyone gets to play!

This has been another review by yours truely. I'm normally found on Linux Warcry and write a column found there called "Digital Resurrection" where I tend to rant and rave. Keep an eye out I may be reviewing your favorite peice of software soon!
