JOYSTICKS SET FOR TV STARDOM
This year's Computer and Video Games Golden Joystick Awards to be covered by MTV.
This year's Computer and Video Games Golden Joystick Awards will be broadcast to a massive TV audience of up to eight million viewers, as Dennis Publishing has signed a major sponsorship agreement with the UK's leading music TV channel, MTV.
As a result of this agreement, MTV cameras will be present at the awards ceremony, filming for a special edition of 'Screenplay' which will be broadcast on December 5th (with repeat airings on December 6th, 7th and 8th). Screenplay, MTV UK's weekly guide to what's happening in the world of movies and games, is hosted by Alex Zane and broadcast every Friday at 5:30pm.
MTV viewers will also be encouraged to vote for their own award - for the Best Film Adaptation - through a series of promotions on Screenplay, MTV News and through the show's dedicated website (http://www.mtv.co.uk/screenplay).
"When we decided to seek out an official TV partner for this year's awards, MTV was our first choice," says Tara Leathers, Games Division Publisher for Dennis Publishing. "MTV, and Screenplay in particular, aims squarely at young mass-market gamers and by joining forces with them we will expose the Golden Joysticks to millions more gaming consumers. MTV's reach will help to cement the Golden Joysticks as the most sought-after awards in the UK games business."
"Having launched Screenplay on MTV UK earlier this year to a phenomenal response from our viewers it was a natural choice to support the highly-influential Computer and Video Games Golden Joystick Awards, bringing together the two brands and respective audiences," adds James Scroggs, Marketing Director for MTV Networks UK.
The Computer and Video Games Golden Joystick Awards are the longest-standing and most prestigious UK awards for interactive entertainment. The awards are voted for by members of the game-playing public through the official website, http://www.goldenjoystick.com. This year's awards will be handed out at a glittering ceremony at London's Park Lane Hotel on Friday, November 28th. Tickets for the event are available now, with prices starting at £79.
