MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 2003-- Atari, Inc., one of the largest third-party publishers of interactive entertainment software in the U.S., and Mobile Digital Media (MDM), the largest publisher of AAA branded consumer software for Palm OS(TM), Windows Mobile(TM)-based Pocket PC and Nokia Series 60 devices on expansion media, today announced an agreement that will make twenty of Atari's classic video games available on a wide range of mobile devices for the millions of adults who grew up playing Atari games.
Today, MDM introduces Atari(R) Retro, a compilation of seven groundbreaking Atari games, in time for the holiday season. Atari Retro includes some of the most beloved Atari classics -- Adventure(TM), Asteroids(R), Breakout(R), Centipede(R), Missile Command(R), Pong(R), and Yar's Revenge(R). The compilation is available on one cross-mobile-platform card for Palm OS, Windows Mobile(TM) and Nokia Series 60 for hours of on-the-go fun.
According to Kurt Baumberger, co-founder and chief marketing officer at MDM, Atari is the perfect content collaborator for MDM as it reaches the quickly growing market of mobile device users.
"Today's mobile device users grew up playing these great Atari classics," said Baumberger. "Now, busy executives on-the-go will have seven of the most popular and authentic Atari games in an easy plug-and-play card," said Baumberger.
"Atari is excited to offer mobile device users an opportunity to play classic Atari games on-the-go," said Jon Leach, vice president of licensing for Atari. "Our agreement with MDM allows us to reach an entirely new audience and offer them a new way to enjoy the classic games they love."
