I lived through them once, though considering the company I kept, I'm not sure I was conscious through most of it.... The Music of the 80's will live with us forever and some of the greatest movies every made come from that period as well.
[p]
Hmmm I think I'm dating myself here just a bit.....
[p]
Anyways, the Activision Anthology dragged me back to those days gone by (way way by) and have reminded me of just how far the world has come in computer gaming technology. Now, instead of trying to explain to my kids that i had to walk uphill, against the wind, in the snow to school. Errr I mean, I had to play video games on an old clunky TV and there was no Satellite TV. I can pop in this game and say "See? See? You guys have it good! See what we all thought was the greatest thing ever invented?!?"
[p]
The radio that is sitting next to the TV plays 2 songs over and over again. The first is "The Wild Wild West" by The Escape Club; and "Eye in the Sky" by The Alan Parsons Project. It makes me want to pull out my Rhino 80's CD Collection :)

It took me a bit to figure out how to use the interface. It doesnt use the Mouse, only 7 or so keys on the keyboard. The arrow pad, space, enter and escape. There are nearly no instructions on how to get the games going. Or how to actually play them. So you may get a bit frustrated in the beginning. Once you get the hang of it, though, you can immerse yourself in the history of computer gaming. And probably wonder how we kept our sanity intact.

This collection is obviously a labor of love from the guys at Barking Lizards and Mumbo Jumbo games. And they have done an excellent job of porting these classic games over to the PC.

For those of you, like me, who lived through the 80's and experienced the Atari 2600 first hand. This is a great trip down memory lane.
[p]
For those of you who grew up in the age of cell phones and microwave pizza. Well, this will be a grand opportunity for you to see how it was in the Old days. heheh.
