Today, we're treated with 2 new scenes showing a before and after glimpse of the new graphics engine from Meridian 59. The images are accompanied from commentary by Rob Ellis himself. Enjoy!
Here are two scenes from the underground remains of the decaying city of Brax. Being a deep underground evil area there is next to no light within the caverns that house the remains of the city.
The first shot shows the "soulsap willow tree" a tree that emits a glowing green sap to attact insects as prey. With the new graphics engine we can now finally actually add a green glow around the trees. Note that the viewer in this scene is holding a torch and can still only see a short distance ahead.
The second scene shows the viewer being attacked by two of the caverns evil inhabitants, the narthyl worm and a tusked skeleton. The remains of the city below have been covered in years of slime and vines, the edge of this once important town center building now swallowed by cave-in, the streets with large cracks from stress and neglect. In the distance we can see the sick glow of another soulsap tree.
