Star Wars Galaxies: Phoenix's LucasArts E3 wrap-up.

As Sabrehawk and I made our way down the convetion center hall towards the LucasArts booth, we knew we were in for a wild ride and possibly some exclusive news.

Sure enough we were greated by our wonderful, and beautiful, LucasArt's PR person Ronda Scott. She introduced herself and then, after a short wait, brought us back into the demo room of LucasArts. The room was small, about the size of a living room in an average home, and was jam-packed with people from various news sites.

We made our way through the crowd to the back corner where we were met by Haden Shug_Ninx Blackman. He introduced himself and offered to show us some of SWG. Raph Holocron Koster was behind us but he had to head out alittle early due to his throat dying on him and to meet up for a beta lunch of some sort. As luck would have it as soon as Holocron left, Kevin Q-3P0 O'Hara joined up with Haden and helped him out with showing us the demonstration.

During our demo we got to ask some nice questions, one of which is what to expect in the expansion pack. Along with the details we already knew about, space combat, additional planets, etc, Q-3P0 told us that they would have 2 new races with the expansion as well. Remember that poll on the official SWG site asking what other races you would like in SWG? Well that's where that info went. We also managed to find out that you can indeed wear storm trooper armor. Q informed us that you had to be on the Empire's side but you are able to loot/wear a full outfit of storm trooper armor if you meet the right conditions. Considering I had thought that that was impossible it was pretty nice news to my ears.

So as we moved along our demo, we were taken to a terminal that was showing off the battles in SWG. The character on screen was fighting at a Empire outpost and was going up against a ton of storm troopers as well as AT-ST's. His marksman character was killing massive amounts of storm stroopers and even tossing the occasional grenade at the AT-ST's. This was a great battle but in the middle of it something caught my eye. A rebel character in the background had pulled out a lightsabre and begun deflecting the blaster blasts. He was mowing down storm troopers and even slashing at the AT-ST's every now and then. Unfortunately he kept putting his lightsabre away and our demo guide kept trying to not look at the guy since we really weren't supposed to see a Jedi yet. The character was apparently just a test character that ran around on this battle ground just to make sure Jedi's were functional, it wasn't really an ingame PC character on a public server. He also ran around in a hooded cloak so he was hard to see alot of the time. But it was pretty cool to the bare tip of how powerful a Jedi is.

After our demonstration, unfortunately, Q-3P0 and Shug_Ninx had to leave. But we stayed around for a few more minutes and looked at some games like Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and Rebel Assualt: Rogue Squadron III before we left. Ronda made sure to tell us if we never needed anything to email her and Haden even gave us his card so we could email him directly, so we made plenty of great friends at the LucasArts meeting and we can't wait to meet up with these guys again someday soon.
