Atari and NHL Announce Backyard Hockey 2005

Joe Thornton and Mats Sundin to Star in New 3-D Version of Best-Selling PC Game

BEVERLY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2004--Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATAR) and the National Hockey League announced today that Backyard Hockey™ 2005 is in development and will be released later this year. Building on the success of the first Backyard Hockey title, which shipped over half a million units to retail in just 15 months, Backyard Hockey 2005 will be an all-new 3-D experience featuring the Backyard Kids™ and NHL pros featured as kid-sized versions of themselves. In a move to appeal to both American and Canadian audiences, Backyard Hockey 2005 will feature different cover athletes for each market - the Boston Bruins' Joe Thornton in the U.S. and Mats Sundin from the Toronto Maple Leafs in Canada.
