Whether they're aliens attacking earth, or some kind of weird in-group out to destroy earth, is not entirely clear in Guilty Gear. However, it doesn't seem to matter, as 2D fighting is once again represented at its best with the Guilty Gear series. The premise of Guilty Gear X2: Reloaded explores a world where chaos has reigned and you are being tested to see if you have what it takes to fight back the Gears. For whatever reason, the Gears are determined to enslave or destroy the human race. Even though 2D fighting games are few and far between in today's 3D world, Guilty Gear X2: Reloaded appears to be able to hold its own.
