AGC Report - Our Age of Wonder

| 11 Sep 2004 22:20

imageWhat is it about virtual worlds that fascinate some people enough to devote their lives to creating them and others to spending their time in them? The answer to this question presents a dichotomy of schools of thought that are both compelling and evocative for those on both sides of the gaming spectrum. The keynote address on day two of the Austin Game Conference, presented by Edward Castronova, Associate Professor of Telecommunications at Indiana University, delved into this topic. His discussion entitled "Virtual Property in the Age of Wonder" explored the "two minds" he felt were present in the industry, specifically in the massive multiplayer arena.
