Denis Leary once said, "Life's gonna suck when you grow up," and so far, all the evidence I've seen has pretty well borne that out. Adulthood has not been the smooth-sailing panacea I'd anticipated when I was younger, and I find myself burdened with such weighty concerns as an unrewarding job, strained socializations, and unreasonable deadlines from overly demanding editors. It is at least some comfort, then, when I look upon others--even small children--and see that they, too, are suffering from the same sort of malaise as I: that their lives, too, are little more than A Series of Unfortunate Events.
