Non-union voice actors have "crossed the picket line" in recent weeks, undercutting the efforts of the Screen Actors Guild to increase salaries across the board for the individuals who bring us, in some cases, quality voice performances.
The organization in question, Interactive Voices, claims, "During this time of uncertainty, decisions still have to be made. The gaming companies that are making the leap now are easily adapting and are taking advantage of this rare opportunity to start fresh. Many are capitalizing on this energy and riding the strong momentum that is revitalizing the gaming industry" (CEO David Ciccarelli). While union voice actors are currently working before a late July referendum takes place, the non-union "replacement players" are enjoying flexible, non-standard pay.
Interactive Voices's web site appears to act as a digital liaison between independent voice actors and producers.
Addendum: WarCry mistakenly said the voice actors of the SAG were on strike, when in fact they'd previously been sent back to work. We used the term "crossed the picket line" in an effort to illustrate the non-union firm's damage to the SAG cause.
