Xbox 360 Price Tag Revealed; Targeted for Home Audience
|
Heads up, Sony. Wal-Mart just priced the Xbox 360 at the moderately affordable $299, right where the PSP was marked. The price is actually a lot better than I was forecasting; I expected it to tip the scales at around $500, or the price of a low-end PC. What did strike me, though, was the rumored cost of games, which might reach as high as $59.99 per title. That, if anything, is what's going to keep me out of the console market for a while. $60 a pop just isn't justifiable when the industry has been growing so consistently, but in today's economy, "we'll make it up in volume!" isn't all that believable anymore.
