Microsoft Meltdown Shows Off Vista, WinSAT

Extreme Tech made it into Microsoft Meltdown, a Seattle convention geared toward helping game developers work with Windows to create great PC games. In addition to showcasing Vista as a whole, Microsoft spoke about their version of 3D Mark, WinSAT.

WinSAT will run spec checks on the fly, even during Vista's installation, to determine ideal settings right out of the chute. Assuming you trust Windows, you'll never have to tweak your EQ2 settings again; the machine knows more about itself than you do.

Just wait; in Service Pack 1, when you try to bump up your screen resolution in Half-Life 2, a dialog box reading, "I can't do that, Dave," is going to pop up. Mark my words.
