Wipeout Pure's web browser workaround was the only reason I bought it. I figured, hey, $30 to check my email is a hell of a lot cheaper than a laptop with WiFi. Then, boredom hit, and I actually decided to, you know, play the game. Lo and behold, it's not a bad little game if you're into the racing thing. And things just got better, thanks to the good people at Coke! (Wow, I just said that?) If you're Japanese, or happen to speak it, Coke is providing optional download packages with new, Coke-themed, cars and tracks to explore.
This is a cool step forward in advergaming. I know lots of people hate it, but stuff like this offsets development costs and lets games stay relatively cheap. If other companies decide seeing a poster as you zoom by in your hover car is more effective than a 30 second commercial before the race, I'm a happy guy.
