What's the Greatest Sports Game of All Time?

imageI'm a sports game freak. Between those and Street Fighter, I'll always own a console. I'm currently in my second season of ESPN MLB 2k4, and I've taken the Giants to the Super Bowl twice in ESPN NFL 2k3. But when the Boston Globe started polling people on what they thought was the greatest sports game ever, I had to step up to the plate for my one true love: Punch-out!

Punch-out is a Rocky-esque struggle of Mac, a five-foot-nothin', 100 pound ball of moxie that is so tough, he wears a pink jogging suit. The guy's a badass, through and through, knocking out all races and creeds, ranging from the Anglo Glass Joe to the exotic King Hippo. And let's not forget his greatest fight of all: flattening Mike Tyson in thirty seconds. Flattened.

Imagine my joy to find Mac taking on a new challenger: NHL '94. This might be his toughest fight yet. Not only is the game great on its own, but it even has a cameo in one of the best movies of the 1990's, Swingers. I mean, Vince Vaughn made Wayne Gretzky's head bleed; they made a point of showing it off! It's intangibles like that that make NHL '94 such a tough opponent for our man in... pink.

I already cast my vote. Go now, and make Mac a champion once again!
