Remember back when Playboy wasn't gimmicky? Sure, you'd get girls from the Big 10 or whatever, but the majority of their, uhh, content was pretty much random, good looking girls who hadn't quite made it on the modeling circuit. Every once in a while, a celebrity with a waning career would make an appearance, but we'd get back to the status quo of trying to figure out, through all the air brushing, if the girl from your hometown was the one you had a crush on in school. But those days have passed, and we now get girls of Wal-Mart, girls of Starbucks, and girls of Wal-Mart again. Last year, pixilated girls of video games made their first appearance, and were so well received, it's happening again.
It's pretty neat that gaming is being recognized as something big enough to cater to, but I got over wanting to see Lara Croft naked around the same time I got out of middle school. What would interest me more - and I'm trying to avoid chauvinistic pig territory, here - is, you know, actual girl gamers posing in the magazine, along with some of their thoughts on where gaming is going. Toss that Fragdolls crap out and introduce the real face of femininity in gaming, but do it tastefully. Naked Blitz cheerleaders is just cheese.
