imageHal Halpin, president of the Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association, has issued a statement declaring his disapproval of the California bill that will fine retailers $1000 for selling M-rated games to minors. He says the bill is "clearly unconstitutional," and doesn't expect California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger "will allow this matter to become further politicized and divisive - leading only to a course... that has been played out in the court system." Pretty much standard faire for the IEMA; it's not like they're going to agree with the bill. Obviously, as someone entrenched firmly in the "stay the hell out of things I do for fun" political camp, I'm inclined to agree with them. But hey, I also think kids should be allowed to buy cigarettes.
