Linden Labs, makers of the "revolutionary social experiment" Second Life, have officially vetoed a proposal for a "Bill of Rights" by the players.
Seriously, what? The following makes sense if you're Ye Olde Queen's Colony of Virginia:
Such rights COULD *hopefully WILL* include:
freedom of speech
freedom of expression in builds
freedom of press
freedom to bear arms in combat areas
the right to know charges against oneself
the right to self-representation and appeal
But not on a private server of a private game developed by a private company. Why so many people lack a fundamental understanding of private property when it comes to their pixel-based lives is beyond me. It's their game. It's their servers. It's their rules.
Frankly, though, I'm happy for this story, so I can push my attempts to write noir on the masses.
