A Japanese woman who married the Japanese equivalent of the American super nerd, an otaku, relayed what her first six months of marriage were like to a reporter friend. The article is an interesting look at how gamer culture isn't really very different on either side of the Pacific; the guy has a bunch of figurines, speaks in gamer lexicon, and eats ramen all the time. The wife takes it in stride, being a bit of a nerd herself, but she also seems a bit overwhelmed with some the guy's antics, saying, "The path of the otaku wife is strewn with thorns."
I know marriages are different from dating, but wouldn't you see this coming? When you're out on a date with a guy and he starts comparing you to that red chick from Evangelion, it might be time to toss up a red flag.
