Schubert on Lost and Vietnam Sequels

Damion Schubert of Shadowbane fame is comparing TV to gaming in his blog. He points to Lost and Desperate Housewives, two TV series that have completely destroyed their competition, and notes how they both - but Lost more specifically - have engendered copycats, most of which entirely fall short of the original. Enter Vietnam era games; talk about a meme that took its shoes off in the movie theatre, lit up a cigar, then promptly exploded. One interesting concept spiraled out of control into sequel and spinoff insanity.

He then poses a question to everyone: What sequels have entirely missed the point?
