Music Industry Threatens To Cut Off iTunes. Record Exec: "That Goose Was Asking For It!"

| 30 Sep 2005 15:23

imageWe've been covering the music industry's hysterical whining and frantic flailing and the latest development is in. A Warner Music exec is threatening to cut off iTunes if Jobs doesn't play ball and give them what they want. Is there any industry that gets it LESS than the music industry? Apple doesn't need them. People will go back to ripping CDs the old-fashioned way, no matter how many grannies, living or otherwise they sue. They need Apple much, much more than Apple needs them. We're not buying iPods because of iTunes. I didn't even install iTunes until I bought my iPod. The music industry has its hands around the neck of the goose that laid the golden egg because, frankly, iTunes and Pandora are the only places I listen to/purchase music anymore.
