Madden PSP Owners Challenge Everything, Including EA

imageThe NFL game monopoly EA celebrates isn't all sugar cane and gumdrops. When Madden 06 debuted, numerous reviewers commented that EA phoned in much of the game's content. But hey, content is one thing; football games are football games. Make the thing even closely resemble football and you're selling out the first weekend. All you have to do is make the game not crash.

Oops.

The PSP version of Madden 06 is a buggy mess. Not only will the game lock up at certain times, but the oh-so-important kick meter randomly disappears during plays. Franchise mode doesn't work, either, and neither does EA's official workaround. Someone has created a site in an attempt to chronicle the debacle, called Recall Madden.

The site contains links to EA's responses to problems thus far, and also has phone numbers disgruntled players can call to express their dismay.

While I'm sure the exclusivity deal didn't really inspire the folks at EA to create a flawless game, this sounds more like the spoils of a freshman effort on the PSP, which, if it's anything like the PS2, is a real development headache. Keep your eyes on Madden Recall for updates.
