First Sony DRM Rootkit Trojan Spotted! Fortunately, Their Copyright Is Protected!

| 11 Nov 2005 14:23

imageI'm sure you'll all be relieved to know that Sony's protection of their copyrights is now an official vector for Trojans and other computer nasties. Moreover, due to the wonderful way the DRM software cloaks the files, it seems like it will be hard for antivirus software to find and delete it. Also, I believe under the DMCA, attempting to circumvent/hax copyright protection means is a big ol' crime, which means that Sony can set up this rootkit on your computer and if the antivirus companies try and remove it and the Trojan using it, they would be commiting a crime. Let's all thank Congress, too.
