So. What a day for the industry. First the MediaWise Game 'Report Card' comes out, revealing such gems as "the system (ESRB Ratings) itself is beyond repair" and plans to issue and endorse a different set of rating recommendations put together with Children Now, http://www.aacap.org/"" title="" target="_blank">Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and National PTA. The report also revealed scandalous truths - enforcement of game ratings by retailers falls short (D-), and on top of that, Ratings Accuracy got graded a big fat F. Then the fun started. The Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association (IEMA) got outraged, ESRB was displeased, Senators Clinton (D-NY) and Lieberman (D-CT) announced the Family Entertainment Protection Act, the ESA responded swiftly, and GameStop President Joe DePinto has gone back to the world of Slurpees, but I think that last one's just a bit unrelated. I think DePinto's on to something, personally.
