This headline was dictated by fate, since iTunes just kicked up an eerily appropriate DDR song as I was typing. If the Norns decree it, I must certainly obey. So, first up, these may or may not be screenshots of a game in development for the Revolution. Yea, the graphics are not--forgive me--revolutionary (har!), but from what I've seen of the 360 so far, this generation of consoles is but an iteration in the ongoing graphical developments that some people insist on chasing. Secondly, the Revolution's controller picked up an old school endorsement--younger gamers are advised this is Atari Mark One, before they became Infogrames As Atari--and I have to agree with his premise. I am allegedly a rabid console gamer and even I don't know what the frickin' triangle, square, and X buttons mean half the time. But I've always been in favor of a return to A, B, C, and if we're feeling especially saucy, X, Y, and Z, as befits my status as an old school Genesis controller man. Finally, Smash Brothers Revolution is coming, which is all I need to say there. Fantasizing about the possibilities of Smash Brothers with that Revolution controller leaves me as flushed as a schoolboy spotting a hot girl in class. Wailing away with Link was one thing, but waving around my Revolution controller to cut down my friends while shouting insults and profanities is exactly what this next generation promised and, so far, hasn't delivered in terms of interaction.
