Advertising and Those Obnoxious Guys Who Can't Live Without Injecting Politics into Everything Arrive In Second Life

| 9 Dec 2005 16:38

imageThe next frontier of griefing is apparently real estate griefing. Second Life users are discovering some unsightly signs are ruining property values, in addition to being politically inflammatory. While I trend leftwards, I think this is just ridiculous. It's like the guy on a message board who swiftly turns every discussion, even the most mundane, into "BUSH/CLINTON SUCKS GUYS HEY CHECK OUT MY RADICAL OPINION I AM RAGING AGAINST THE MACHINE." The irony is, from playing Second Life, if they took the time it takes to learn to program these signs and applied it to actual political activism, they might actually accomplish something. But I guess that's harder than raging on the Internet. Oh, and before I get "Freedom of speech!" emails, freedom of speech doesn't apply on private property, such as Linden's servers. That's the actual sign on the right, not any kind of cutting edge statement.
