GamePolitics, the site dedicated to finding unflattering pictures of politicians, is running a story about an Ohio family group that wants parents to sign a piece of paper affirming that they won't provide drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or violent games to teenagers as they party. First off, as a former teenager, I can say right now, if drugs, alcohol, and tobacco aren't present, it's not a party in the first place. And if those aren't there, I'm gone before videogames even enter into the equation.
Aside from that, I don't like the idea of what basically boils down to a loyalty oath. Imagine your mom being approached with something like this.
"Just sign the paper, Susie."
"I'm not sure I want to."
"Susie, all the paper says is you don't want our kids poisoned by the Real World. That could lead to dancing. Do you want to poison our children, Susie?"
It's a sick world, kids.
