I was fortunate to attend the NCSoft Meet & Greet in Austin TX, hosted at CyberJocks on 183. The event began at 5pm and ran until 11pm and there were many gamers there, not only from NCSoft but from the press, players, fans, and the curious public. Thanks to Gunner for putting up with us all!
This was a great event and the attendance was phenomenal!
There was a constant stream of great music as the backdrop to the event, supplied by the star DJ from Split Infinity Radio, DJ Aiyalla! There were lots of shout-outs to our gaming friends and cohorts listing in on the live stream.
The event brought in so many different types of people, from as far as San Francisco and Chicago, many of whom attended with their children. All the kids were promptly outfitted with a City cape, shown in the images on the left. Get them started young!
As the stations filled with players smiting clockworks, creating new characters in Guild Wars and trying out almost everything NCSoft had to offer, the room filled with fans getting together and talking about these games that they love. The din of conversation was constant as News8 Austin's Hermalinda Vargas stopped by to chat with Rich Weil of NCSoft, and Tony Schum of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and to take the time to check out some of the games.
This was a great opportunity for players to put faces to the avatar names, as well as meet their forum moderators and community support staff. And while a glitch in the system held off the Auto Assault preview until later in the evening, no one seemed to mind as everyone took the time to check out all the games, play a little CCG, hang out to chat, get pictures taken with their favourite team members and wait for Pann to throw t-shirts, capes, Auto Assault caps, and [pointy!] pre-order boxes into the crowd.
All in all, a great night and I'm so glad I got to meet almost everyone there, can't wait to see you at the next Meet & Greet! I'd like to thank Rich Weil, Pann, Arctic Sun, Cuppa Jo, EM, Nomad, Mistryl, SwagGirl, Gunner and staff, DJAiyalla and many others for making this possible!
And with that I leave you with a glimpse at the future of the industry.
