This year, Moscow Russia based developer Deep Shadows and publisher Play Ten are producing two new exciting games. These titles include The Precursors and White Gold, comparable to Oblivion, are both complete with a fully destructible environment, vehicles, and some rather interesting twists.
The Precursors, a First Person Shooter-RP-space simulator crossbreed takes place in a distant universe with the player taking upon the role of a newly graduated starship pilot. From this point on, the player travels across space and more than fifteen vast worlds with fully interactive A.I. in order to progress in the storyline. NPC conversations even allow the player to choose how he or she responds to what is presented before them.
Another very interesting aspect of this game is the concept of "organic weapons." These weapons such as plasma shooters to daggers are alive, and when "ammo" runs out, the only way to recharge or continue is to provide the creature with food, thus, replenishing its energy.
Another key point of realism not added into many games is the integration of the environment as a whole. Little critters scurry across the ground beneath your feet however you must cautious and watch your step! For one wrong place of you boot can crush the poor bug.
On the track of the Latin American themed White Gold, this game boosts the same destructible environment as its counterpart, The Precursors. Centered on crime and drug dealing (specifically cocaine - hence White Gold), the player starts off on a main island, presumably Cuba. Each neighboring island represents a newer mission of sorts.
Factions are implemented in this game, which effect how certain NPC react to your presence. If you have bed faction standing, they become foes. But even for your friends - if that is what you can call them - can be attacked.
Absorbing a large amount of memory for the cutting edge graphics, a decent computer system will be required to play. Both games are quickly approaching live beta and will expected to be released next year.
These games, we must admit, will be eagerly awaited.
