Neurok Optics has made a impressive 17" monitor, the IZ3D Monitor. What is different about this monitor is that it can display 3d objects on the LCD screen. Now before you think "Aw man, another 3d product that will either slow down your game speeds, require you to wear those shutter glasses, get headaches." Well fear not. The iZ3D monitor does not require those evil things. All you need is the monitor, A NVIDIA graphics card with 2 video ports (DVI, VGA) and some Polarized glasses.
I started out by picking one of the three different choices of glasses available (Captain, Terminator, and clip-on) and started playing Unreal. The image was a bit distorted but that was easily remedied by pressing the + and - keys on the keyboard to adjust how much depth there is and what would be a comfortable level for you to pick from. Once I got that thing solved I played for about 15 minutes and went, wow. No headaches, no woozyness. The glasses themselves do not cause any real darkness on the picture. One of the best parts about this monitor is, No slowdowns, none, zip, nada. This is the reason for using 2 video ports one of them is used for 1 angle while the other uses the other angle for polarization. So in technicality all I am running is a cloned screen on one monitor.
Once I was done with the game I can turn off the 3d to do other more boring things like office programs. I did not get the chance to watch any videos so I cannot comment on that nor confirm if it is even supported.
The monitor itself is sleek in design costing a rather costly price tag of $1,299.00 USD it's maximum resolution is 1280 x 1024 with a viewing angle of 140/130 It also has a quick response time of 8ms, The contrast ratio can be improved from its 400:1 but the picture looks great regardless. The Pixel pitch is also 0.264mm.
I would most likely see hardcore gamers defiantly buying one of these things and start enjoying 3d.
