Neverwinter Nights 2: A Second Dragon*Con Report
|
Major details:
- DM Client is still being worked on.
[li] There were still some bugs in the game and toolset. Some helmet textures weren't present, and the game crashed once or twice on load screens.
[li] Confirmed that the toolset will be available to those who pre-order one month before the official release.
Gameplay and Official Campaign
- You can multi-class up to four classes.
- The official campaign will be at a bare minimum 25 hours, and that's if you blow through through the dialog and have a "super-kill stick." A more realistic estimate is 40 - 50 hours if you skip most of the side quests.
[/ul]
[li] Radial menu is gone. There is now a context sensitive menu with multiple levels.
[li] Spells are accessible with a hotkey ('F' if I remember correctly.)
[li] You get your own keep. Properly maintaining and upgrading it are important.
[li] Stealthing your way through the entire game will not be possible. Rogues are intended more as combat support than stealthy assassins.
[li] Many prestige classes are available. Sorry I don't have a complete list. I'm listing some below:
[ul][li] Neverwinter Nine (sort of a bodyguard to Lord Nasher)
[li] Duellist (yippee!)
[li] Blackguard
[li] Arcane Knight
[li] Harper Agent
[li] Warpriest
[li] Subraces are supported and will have different abilities from other subraces. Drow are available and will have spell resistance but will have a substantially harder time gaining levels. Tieflings and Aasimar are also available.
[li] There will be a quickbar with 10 slots. You will also have access to other quickbars (at least 4 others.) Not sure if you can tie them to CTRL/ALT/SHIFT like you could with NWN 1.
[li] The parry skill has been reworked, though I'm not sure if they've addressed the multiple attack issue.
[li] The game will not be turn-based, but instead have the same pause functionality as NWN 1.
[li] NPCs will sometimes have different dialog depending on your class and race. In the tutorial, one NPC had a strong reaction to my Tiefling Paladin. (I know that should be impossible, but somehow I was able to make an LG tiefling.)
[li] System requirements were still fuzzy. The developer I spoke to said it will probably require 128MB of VRAM, and would need a 2 Ghz P4. He also commented that requirements would be similar to Oblivion, a very demanding game. The demo system they were running the game on was pretty choppy until the details were turned down.
