The Xbox 360's launch was plagued by shortages all across the country, causing many to proclaim that Microsoft had been taking lessons from Dr. Seuss's Grinch. The news that Sony was having problems producing the blue laser diodes necessary to the reading of Blu-Ray discs--and consequently pushing back the non-US/Japan launch date as well as cutting the release of the American PS3 to a mere 400,000 units hints at a similar shortage for the next-generation Playstation.

Thankfully, gamers anticpating the release of the Nintendo Wii shouldn't suffer the same fate. Gamasutra brings us information that the House of M intends to ship 6 million units worldwide by the end of the fiscal year (keep in mind that the fiscal year, unlike the REAL year, ends March 31st--because businesspeople are insane).

Though the Big N has remained silent about price and release date, we're starting to see some peripherals trickling in. Gamestop's website lists "Wii "Controller Glove" for $9.99, a "HD Premium Component Cable" for $59.99 and a "S-Video Premium AV Cable" for $39.99."

Good to see that there'll be plenty of Wii to go around.
