So how long does it take till you turn the in-game music off and put on something you can really play to?
It seems no mater how beautiful the in-game music is, with time it gets old. I will say that they are some MMO's out there that let the players make the music to some extent, but all of us have that one tune that just rocks our gaming world. Late one night while taking out Black Sun fighters in orbit around Dantooine I stumble on to what might be my biggest find in gaming music. I am talking about WoR-Radio, and I wanted to share what I found with the Warcry readers.
Founded on July 27, 2005, the staff of WoR Radio had a vision of a radio station for roleplayers of all genres. With the vision of bringing gamers, gaming companies, and music together firmly in hand they started out on a quest that continues strong to this day. World of Roleplayers Radio is a streaming internet radio station, news site, and gamer community, by gamers for gamers. It is an international partnership with live DJ's from around the globe.
WoR-Radio offers their community IRC chat, Forums, and messaging via X-Fire. Along with all these forms of communication they also host gaming servers. WoR hosts Counter Strike, and Quake III servers along with two RPGs. The first of their RPG offerings is Legend of the Green Dragon. Anyone from the days of MUD's will quickly be able to jump into LotGD and the helpful staff is always there to show any new comers the ropes. The second RPG is IdleRPG and it is played in IRC format, more information on IdleRPG can be found here.
IRC is another place where the team at WoR really shines. The team maintains a PG-13 warm and friendly atmosphere where even the newest person to roleplaying can jump right in and talk with out feeling out of place. Song requests can be sent to the DJ's via three methods the first being live in IRC, letting you talk to the DJ's them selves about they songs you want to hear. The other ways to request a song are via the forums which every DJ's has their own area in the On-Air forum, and via X-Fire.
For all of us MMORPG roleplayers there is one more massive service WoR-Radio offers, live in-game events. Providing the team has access to your game of choice they will attend your event and will broadcast live at your location. This gives you a chance to truly create a memorable in-game experience for you and your friends. With the hybridization of music and gaming that WoR-Radio is creating, the sounds of dull background music may be gone forever. Please give them a listen at www.wor-radio.com.
