Star Wars Galaxies: GNS Special Report: Trouble on the Lokian Front

UNDISCLOSED LOCATION, LOK (Radiant) - Approximately 35 brave souls dedicated to the Alliance gathered Friday, Sept. 15, at a predetermined pick up point to escort one Xyra Ka'lu to a ship for her flight to safety among Senior Rebel Officers.

It is rumored that Xyra Ka'lu survived the purge on Conruscant where she trained as a Jedi healer.

At the appointed time, Master Jenu Tangyl arrived and began issuing squad assignments immediately. The atmosphere seemed somewhat playful among the brave men and women come to sacrifice their very lives if need be for the sake of one woman. Suddenly appearing as if from the very heat itself, Miss Ka'lu was standing there beside Jedi Master Tangyl. They began exchanging pleasantries and it seemed that all the Jedi gathered around very close. This reporter was not permitted close enough to hear any of the discussion.

Shots rang out from seemingly all directions at once. An elite squadron of Imperial Troopers swarmed over the ridge and opened fire. Shouts on comlinks, screaming of the wounded, and even the noise of blaster fire were interrupted by an air strike as sudden chaos prevailed, but only for a moment.

No one even turned to look at the dead as they mounted up in 3 convoys of vehicles and headed out swiftly over the desert. Soon, as they crossed higher dune, the Empire had formed up in a U trapping the Rebels in a cul-de-sac of armored men and weaponry.

This time the battle lasted much longer, one rebel firing from his hip was screaming, "So many?" Another, "How is this possible?" One Jedi, seemingly furious to this reporter, "She cannot possibly be worth this much to the Empire." It seemed questions were asked by few, however, as lightsabers struck home, blaster fire blazed in all directions, and I dove for cover.

When silence returned to the hilltop, more than hundred dead and dismembered Troopers littered the landscape. A few Jedi were racing across a hill to the south chasing the last of the enemy, and one soldier in rebel clothing lay nearly at my feet.

Xyra Ka'lu knelt beside this ragged torn and twisted corpse and whispered a few words, she touched his head, and he rose from the dead. Not only healed but fully combat ready, the Rebel raced off to join his companions as if nothing had happened.

Soon the band arrived at the appointed place, and there on sands of Lok the Millennium Falcon sat waiting. Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca stood guard at the ramp. Everyone was calming down, and greetings being exchanged when the first of several Lambda's landed around us.

Troopers and Inquisitors were everywhere, the battle raged as wave after wave poured into the Rebels. It became quiet yet again, but only for a moment before the Dark Jedi Masters attacked as if from thin air, two, three or more waves of these evil wielders of the force fell and even as it began to look as if there were only a few remaining, we discovered that those remaining were Elder Sith Lords.

The devastating abilities of the Sith became readily apparent as Jedi went down in seconds as if slain with a mere glance from these dark fiends. The final battle took a heavy toll on the freedom fighters, and there in the midst of it all, Xyra Ka'lu was walking calmly from one to another raising the dead to rejoin in her defense.

When it was over Xyra Ka'lu thanked the Rebels for their aid, it was impossible to hear much at all as the Jedi used something to shield their words. Xyra Ka'lu walked up the ramp and the Millennium Falcon lifted off into the shimmering heat of the desert sky.
