Ubisoft Has a Little "Wardrobe Malfunction"

Like the infamous Janet Jackson incident, some things that weren't meant to be exposed... have been. Also like Ms. Jackson's breasts, one wonders if the revealing was truly "accidental."

Looks like someone uploaded two Gigabytes worth of proprietary information (movies, concept art, et al) of upcoming Ubisoft titles to the company's public FTP server. Whoopsie-daisy! Though a number of these titles were already announced to be in progress (Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, among others) there were some not-quite-surprises in the bunch--an upcoming Star Wars game for the PSP, as well as a new Prince of Persia (a sequel to a successful franchise? Unheard of!).

Ubisoft is understandably upset. However, since all the information leaked was of the promotional variety and nothing devastating like source code or whatnot... one wonders if this is nothing more than a well-thought-out "leak" to promote the various games.

Thanks to Joystiq and the Escapist Newsroom for the articles.
